Utility Scam Awareness

Follow these simple tips to help protect yourself from scammers and learn how to identify FHNGA employees.

HOW TO SPOT A SCAM

Scammers will:

Pretend to be from Fort Hill Natural Gas. (Your caller ID may even display Fort Hill's name.)

White off switch icon on a blue background

Threaten to turn off natural gas service to your home or business within an hour.

Demand immediate payment by prepaid debit card or money order. DO NOT pay over the phone if payments are demanded to avoid disconnection!

TIPS TO PROTECT YOURSELF:

  • Don't assume the name and number on your caller ID is legitimate. Caller IDs can be imitated.
  • Don't share personal information, including date of birth, social security number, or banking information.
  • Don't click links or call numbers in unexpected texts or emails-especially those asking for your account information.
  • FHNGA will NOT require customers to purchase prepaid debit cards or money orders to avoid an immediate disconnection. Fort Hill will send out an advance notice for all disconnections.
  • If customers receive a call that sounds like it may be a scam, or believe it is a scam, hang up and call Fort Hill at 864-859-6375. If customers feel they are in danger, call 911.
