Enabling Act
Fort Hill Natural Gas Authority was established by the South
Carolina Legislature to serve the municipalities and outlying areas
of Oconee, Pickens and portions of Anderson Counties. By statute,
Fort Hill is a non-profit, tax-exempt entity and is authorized to
issue tax-exempt "municipal" bonds to construct and expand our
natural gas distribution network and facilities. There are 4 other
Natural Gas Authorities in South Carolina, each of which was
established by separate legislation. The others are Chester County
Natural Gas Authority, Clinton-Newberry Natural Gas Authority,
Lancaster County Natural Gas Authority and York County Natural Gas
Authority.
When the Enabling Act was written, there were 6 original member
municipalities of the Authority, which were: Central, Clemson,
Easley, Liberty, Seneca and Williamston. The municipalities of
Norris, Pelzer, Pendleton, Pickens, Six Mile, Walhalla,
Westminster, West Pelzer and West Union have become members of the
Authority since that time. As also specified in the Enabling Act,
the governing body of the Authority is a 6 member Board Of
Directors each member of which is appointed by the Governor of
South Carolina to serve a term of 6 years.

Location
The corporate offices of Fort Hill are located at 311 S.
Pendleton Street in Easley, South Carolina. Two other customer
service offices are located at 214 N. Walnut Street in Seneca,
South Carolina and at 701 N. Hamilton Street in Williamston, South
Carolina. The Authority has an Appliance Sales and Service Center
located in the Easley and Seneca Offices. Management offices,
accounting and customer billing, engineering, construction and
marketing offices are located in the Easley Corporate office.
Additional Information
Fort Hill has 78 full time employees, serves approximately
38,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in a 3
county service area. We maintain approximately 2,700 miles of steel
and PE plastic distribution gas mains and service lines of varying
diameters between 5/8" and 10".
Fort Hill purchases natural gas for resale to our customers on
the open market. The gas is transported from various sources in the
gas-producing regions of the United States to Fort Hill via 3
interconnects with Williams Gas Pipeline in Anderson County, South
Carolina.

progressive company that continually looks for more efficient and
economical ways of serving our customers by using new methods and
technology whenever possible. The Board of Directors, management
and employees of Fort Hill are dedicated to providing clean and
dependable natural gas, quality appliances and service to our
customers.
