Generally, on new
service applications (not requiring a gas main extension), a Fort
Hill distribution technician will inspect the property to propose
the most direct route of gas service installation within 5 working
days of the application. The proposed gas meter location will be
marked by the placement of a yellow flag at a point adjacent to the
house or structure to be served. After placement of the flag, it is
the customer¹s responsibility to immediately contact our
engineering department if there are any complications or required
changes associated with the proposed meter site. After installation
of your service, any relocation of the service or height adjustment
of the meter will require initiation of another work order with
additional charges of $50.00 plus $5.00 per foot for any additional
footage.
The actual site
inspection for meter site selections on projects that will require
a gas main extension will be dependent upon how quickly tap fees
are received for the project. After enough fees have been received
to meet our minimum criteria and the project is approved, it will
then be entered into our construction schedule in chronological
order. Our distribution technicians will then begin inspecting and
flagging individual meter sites for the structures on the
project.
