Pressure Test
All customers gas piping (which is located downstream of the
meter) must be installed and have an air test (20 psi for 20
minutes) and a Fort Hill service representative must witness this
test before we can install the meter. For commercial installations
and two-pound systems, call our service department for the pressure
test requirements.
Codes
All gas appliances and customer piping must be installed
according to the manufacturers installation instructions and The
National Fuel Gas Code (NFPA 54). Fort Hill's service
representative must have escorted access to the inside of the house
or building to inspect the installation if there are any appliances
inside.
Insured Dealer
Please provide us with the name of the insured dealer who is
installing the customer piping and/or appliances for our records.
The insured dealer will call Fort Hill for our inspection and meter
after the installation has been completed. Anderson and Oconee
counties require a permit from the building codes department. After
the Fort Hill service representative approves the installation, he
will install the meter. The insured dealer is then responsible for
connecting the customer piping to the meter and starting the gas
appliances.
Liability Release
For our records, property owners who choose to install their own
gas appliances are required to sign a liability release statement.
These installations are subject to the same rules and regulations
as dealer installed appliances and must be inspected by our service
department. After the Fort Hill service representative approves the
installation, he will install the meter. The property owner will be
responsible for connecting their piping to the meter and starting
the gas appliances.
